A week of activities, presentations, and workshops in the Writing Center for the purpose of interrogating kindness and empathy to better understand how we interact with kindness and how kindness is both situational and relational. It foregrounds the work of connection in not only writing centers, but university life and practice; to make visible the abstract work of it, and to answer the questions of why connection matters, how and why we connect, and what gets in the way of connection, which helps us better respond to and participate meaningfully in the pressing cultural and social issues of our time. The inaugural Kindness Week ended with a celebrity guest speaker, Leon Logothetis, from Netflix’s “The Kindness Diaries.”
